Course Description
A Revelation
Of Jesus
To John
For the Church
Against the Empire
During the 1st Century
When we root Revelation in its first century world, what its pages reveal are more than doom and gloom. Revelation is a book of hope. A costly hope, but hope nonetheless. If you've struggled with popular visions of the last book of the Bible, such as those popularized by movies like "Thief in the Night," "The Omega Code," and the infamous book-turned-film: "Left Behind," then this video-based course might be a helpful first step towards reading Revelation with its context and genre in mind.
Revelation is a book that reveals Jesus, the same Jesus from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John! Certainly Jesus will return someday, at God's appointed time, but the world isn't headed for chaos and 7 years of Tribulation. Jesus isn't coming back to conquer and destroy. He will come back to judge, purge, heal, and restore. In this 30 day journey, I will cover all of the major interpretive issues and themes that come from this confusing book. And by the end of it, perhaps you will find that Revelation reveals the same Jesus that you find in the pages of the Gospels: a Jesus who desires that we all become more like him.
